Deployment Methods

LanSchool Air currently offers two methods to mass deploy: Basic & Advanced.
  1. Basic Method: Creates a simple executable (.EXE) file which you can transfer and run on each student machine. Configuration options are included automatically.
  2. Advanced Method: Uses an executable EXE installer to deploy to student machines. Command-line parameters are required.
If you need to customize your deployment please proceed to the Advanced Method.

Basic Method

The Basic method is selected first by default. To ensure that it is selected click on "BASIC" and make note of the underline.

Basic install will automatically download the installer to each machine and run the install. If you would prefer to transfer a pre-downloaded package to the student, you can use the Advanced Method.

The BASIC deployment guide is comprised of 3 steps:
  1. Download the installer (don't change the filename).
  2. Verify provisioning window is open.
  3. Run the .EXE installer on student devices using admin permissions.

Running the .EXE installer will first download the last version of the client, install LanSchool Air services and then provision the student to your organization.

Follow the checklist provided to you in LanSchool Air to proceed with the BASIC deployment method:

Advanced Method

Ensure you have the ADVANCED tab active within the deployment guide. To ensure that it is selected click on "ADVANCED" and make note of the underline.

The ADVANCED deployment guide is comprised of 3 steps:
  1. Download the installation file EXE.
  2. Verify provisioning window is open.
  3. Deploy the EXE installer using your preferred tool with the required parameters.
    1. Required Parameters:
      1. /vLSA_ENV= (prod = NA Region, emea = EMEA Region, apac = APAC Region)
      2. /vLSA_PROVISIONING_CODE= (unique to your organization)
    2. Optional Parameters (0=False, 1=True), if excluded, these will default to True:

Configuring Recommended Settings

The following Windows settings are recommended to ensure the best experience with LanSchool Air. Many of these settings are optional, but are recommended to prevent students from circumventing the LanSchool Air app or extension.

Disabling Fast User Switching

LanSchool Air does not support Windows Fast User Switching feature. The student client will not function properly when the computer is switched to a second user account. It is recommended to disable Fast User Switching in order for the Windows student client to function properly.

Please see Disabling Fast User Switching for more information on how to disable this feature.

Disabling Edge Split Screen

LanSchool Air is unable to limit the web in Microsoft Edge when the student uses the Edge Split Screen feature. The LanSchool Air extension does not register the second screen and will not block the website. It is recommended to disable Edge Split Screen in order for the LanSchool Air web limiting to function properly.

Please see Disabling Edge Split Screen for more information on how to disable this feature.
