Managing LanSchool Air Licenses

Managing LanSchool Air Licenses

Overview

The LanSchool Air client is installed per device for Windows and Mac OS devices. As devices are repurposed or replaced, it is important to fully recover (free up) the LanSchool Air license.

Recovering the LanSchool Air license takes 2 steps:
  1.  Remove the LanSchool Air software from the device.
  2. Delete the device from the Student list in the LanSchool Air Settings.

Uninstalling LanSchool Air from the Student Device

The first step in freeing up a LanSchool Air license is to uninstall the software from the device. LanSchool Air can be uninstalled manually from each device using an Administrator account or can be removed using a deployment tool.
If the device has been repurposed without the LanSchool Air software or is broken and cannot be logged into again then you can continue to Removing the License from Students.

Uninstalling LanSchool Air from Windows Manually

  1. On Windows 10, select the "Start" menu and open Settings.
  2. Select Apps.
  3. Search for LanSchoolAir in the list.
  4. Select LanSchoolAir and press the Uninstall button.
  5. You will be prompted for Administrator permission to perform the uninstall.
  6. The LanSchool Air icon will no longer appear in the System Tray.

Uninstalling LanSchool Air from Mac OS Manually

  1. Open Terminal. This can be accessed by clicking on spotlight and typing in the word "terminal".
  2. Type in:  sudo /Library/Application\ Support/LenovoSoftware/LanSchoolAir/LSAirUninstall.app/Contents/MacOS/lsairuninstaller /uninstall
  3. Press Enter. You will see a prompt to uninstall. When the process is over, you will not be notified, but you can confirm that LanSchool Air icon is missing from the menu bar.
  4. If the icon still appears in the menu bar, restart the device.

Removing the License from Students

Once LanSchool Air has been uninstalled from the device, the LanSchool Air Site Admin can remove the device from the Students list in Settings, freeing up the LanSchool Air license.
  1. As a Site Admin, log into LanSchool Air.
  2. Go to Settings>Students.

  3. Locate the device name(s) you have uninstalled LanSchool Air from.
  4. Click on the box next to the Student Account to activate the Trashcan.
  5. Click on the Trashcan icon to delete the device(s).

  6. Click Remove to confirm removing the device(s) and freeing up the license.
