LanSchool Air System Requirements

LanSchool Air System Requirements

Instructor Devices

The LanSchool Air instructor interface is web-based and only requires a supported web browser. We recommend instructors and admins use the latest version of one of the following browsers:
  1. Google Chrome
  2. Microsoft Edge
WarningDue to changes in Mozilla Firefox's requirements, the Mozilla Firefox extension is not supported.
It's recommended to utilize the Limit Apps feature to restrict the Firefox browser.

Student Devices

In order to monitor and manage student devices, LanSchool Air requires that an agent and browser extension be installed on student devices. The following device operating systems are supported:
  1. Chromebooks with the latest ChromeOS stable version or the Long-Term Support (LTS) release. Users must be managed by Google Workspace
  2. Windows devices running Windows 10 v1903 or Windows 11 v21H2 or higher. Both x86-64 and ARM processors are supported.
  3. Mac devices running 12 (Monterey), 13 (Ventura), 14 (Sonoma), 15 (Sequoia), 26 (Tahoe), 27 (Golden Gate)
Info
If you do not have Windows 10 v1903 or Windows 11 v21H2 or higher, download and install .NET 4.8 on the student devices.

For complete deployment instructions, see the LanSchool Air Setup Guide.

Language Support

LanSchool Air instructors and admins can select their preferred language by selecting the  icon in the toolbar. Selecting a new language will immediately update the language settings for that user. Any future email notification such as account activation or password reset requests will be set to use this preferred language as well. The agent installed on student devices will use the language of the operating system.

LanSchool Air includes translations for the following languages:
  1. English
  2. German
  3. Spanish
  4. Brazilian Portuguese
  5. Italian
  6. French
  7. Japanese
  8. Korean
  9. Indonesian

Network and Firewall Settings

Bandwidth Recommendations

When monitoring student screens with LanSchool Air, screenshots are sent to the teacher every few seconds. Depending on the size of the thumbnails the teacher is requesting, peak bandwidth usage could reach between 16-32 kbps per student device.

For the best experience, we recommend a teacher have at least a 0.5 Mbps internet connection speed for viewing a class of 30 student devices. If thumbnail images seem to load too slowly, consider switching to Class List View

Firewall / Proxy Exceptions

In order for students and instructors to reliably access LanSchool Services, ensure that the following websites are allowed through your network firewall, security appliance, proxy, or content filter. All traffic is sent over TCP ports 80 or 443. All communication is secured using TLS.
