Overview
By default, student devices will be monitored without notifying the student. This is most commonly practiced within a K-12 educational organization. However, there are some instances outside the K-12 group where non-educational or higher educational organizations would like to allow "students" to opt-out of monitoring.
Site Admin users can enable an organizational wide setting that will require students to opt-in to monitoring before joining the class.
Enabling Device Monitoring Opt-In
- As a Site Admin, log into LanSchool Air.
- Click on the menu at the top left and go to LanSchool Air Settings.

- Select General.
- Under Organizational Settings, select Require students to opt-in to monitoring before joining class.

- Click Save at the bottom right.
Observing Students with Device Monitoring Opt-In
Once device monitoring has been enabled students will now have the option to Allow or Reject device monitoring when the instructor starts the class.
If the student Allows monitoring, the teacher will see the student's screen and their thumbnail status as Online.
The student will see a pop-up at the bottom right corner of their screen notifying them that they are being monitored. They can stop monitoring at any time by clicking on Stop monitoring my computer.
If a student rejects monitoring or chooses to stop monitoring, they will appear Offline in the class.
If a student chooses stop monitoring, they'll receive a pop-up warning them that they are removing themself from the class.
To rejoin the class, the student will right click on the LanSchool Air icon in the System Tray and click Allow Monitoring.
