Accessing Chat History

Overview

Chat history preserves a 45 day record of interactions between students and instructors. This record can be valuable for administrative purposes, tracking student progress or addressing any concerns. Chat history allows LanSchool Air admins to ensure that students are safe while learning in the classroom.

Chat history is disabled by default. Site Admins can enable chat history for the organization.

Enabling Chat History

  1. Log into LanSchool Air as a Site Admin.
  2. Click on the menu at the top left and click on LanSchool Air Settings.



  3. Click on General.



  4. Under Reports toggle on chat history.


  5. When prompted, click Enable to enable chat history.


If chat history needs to be disabled please contact LanSchool Air's Support Team.

Accessing Chat History

LanSchool Air Site Admins can access chat history.
  1. As a Site Admin, log into LanSchool Air.
  2. Click on the menu at the top left and click on Reports.



  3. Click on Chat History.



  4. Select the User Type.
    1. Student - Student that is currently provisioned to the LanSchool Air org.
    2. Instructor - Teacher that currently has an account in the LanSchool Air org.
    3. Student or Instructor Outside of the Organization - Students or instructors that have been removed from the LanSchool Air org.

  5. Enter the name or login name of the teacher or student.
  6. Set your date range and time range.
    You can view chat history up to 45 days after the event occurs.
  7. Click Search.



  8. Click Download Search Results to download a CSV file of the Chat History.


Exercise caution when handling files that contain sensitive personal information.

When searching for a student or teacher, the chat history will display:
  1. The Login Name of the student or teacher.
  2. The recipient receiving the chat from the student or teacher.
  3. The class name.
  4. The date and time the message was sent.
  5. The message that was sent.
